I Read, You Read, We Read
Reading is indeed one of the best hobbies that one can have. Children are encouraged to read because it enhances their vocabulary, helps them understand how to read and write, and make them understand different topics and gain knowledge about the world and everyday life, know about different cultures, traditions and much more. After all, there is a famous quote by Dr Seuss,
“THE MORE YOU READ, THE MORE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW. THE MORE THAT YOU LEARN, THE MORE PLACES YOU’LL GO.”
Writing
Writing is a very important part of our history and lives as humans. We have always been looking for ways to tell our stories, share our ideas, and even keep records by writing.
As long as we live in the midst of people, we would always need to communicate our ideas, feelings, and desires to others.
Writing your ideas down on paper helps you to develop the ability to clearly express your thoughts. It is believed that great communicators have a greater chance to get what they want and become successful.
Writing helps you to learn to structure your thoughts into words and this develops your ability to communicate better.
Our students definitely want to be great communicators. They practice their writing skills every day.
Science
There is always something fascinating and new to find out about our world.
Science in our Montessori classrooms is not taught in isolation. It provides children with a clear-thinking approach to gathering information and problem-solving. And of course, it is done not through definitions but through real-life experiences, trying, touching the materials, and doing experiments. There are many mysteries for us to uncover.
History, Music, and Art
You already know about our project about Egypt. But be aware! There are many pther countries to discover.
Did you know who were one of the first people to inhabit Slovakia? Did you know who built fortified forts on the hills around Martin? Do you know who is Perún? We already know and once we are finished, we can show you how did a house of these people look like.
Art
Art can be drawing, painting or making statues. And we do plenty of those.
But did you know that you can also bake art? Our Christmas houses were really a work of art!
Math
Did you think that we forgot about Math? Surely not! It is something that we love and do every day.
Developing Body and Mind
Exercising, stretching our muscles, patience and perseverance - that is what we do during our PE lessons, excursions, and going-outs.
We have already discovered many beautiful places in Turiec Valley. We know how to climb rock, cross streams, and jump over sneaky roots. We love to play football, basketball, and dodgeball. And we love running, crawling, jumping, rolling - simply, we like to move.
Competitions
- Science Cup
We are going to try our creativity and knowledge of Science by participating in the competition Science Cup 2023: Around the World. Science cup is an international competition for teams of children from 5 to 18 years old. In this competition, teams work on various investigative, experimental and communicative tasks and solve theoretical and practical problems focused on all fields of Science – physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and ecology.
- Mathematical Kangaroo Competition
Mathematical Kangaroo is an international mathematical competition held across 92 countries in the world. There are twelve levels of participation, ranging from grade 1 to grade 12. The key competence tested by Mathematical Kangaroo is not just pure knowledge of formulas but the logical combination of concepts.
Our students will try their abilities working on Math problems with millions of other children all around the world. It is incredible that Math can connect us all!.
- 100 Books
Do you think the first graders can read more 100 books until the end of the year? We are sure we can reach that number if we join together. Let's all read! You can help us by reading with us, taking us to the library, or just reading for yourself so we can see that reading is COOL!
